The Community Led Local Governance (CLLG) Policy, is an innovative approach designed to empower and enhance our local communities. I am particularly thrilled to emphasize the inclusion of Section 87 of the Balochistan Local Government Act, 2010, which has been amended in 2022 to officially acknowledge the crucial role played by Community Institutions (CIs) in local development and decentralized governance. As the Secretary LGRDD of Balochistan, I take immense pride in declaring that our province is the first in Pakistan to recognize and prioritize the contributions of CIs in such a manner. Granting legal protection to CIs demonstrates our unwavering commitment to fostering a more inclusive and participatory governance approach that values the invaluable insights and expertise of our communities.

The Community Led Local Governance (CLLG) Policy of the Government of Balochistan (GoB) serves as a guide and catalyst for collaboration between the government’s development initiatives and the empowered citizens and communities. This collaboration aims to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of the GoB’s poverty reduction efforts, as well as improve the delivery of social services by addressing the identified and prioritized needs of the community.

I firmly believe that the CLLG Policy will serve as a transformative reform, enabling us to build stronger, more resilient, and sustainable communities. It will have a direct impact on the delivery of essential public services and will support the government’s commitment to reducing poverty. I urge all stakeholders, including our departments, local communities, and development partners, to actively engage with this Policy and collaborate to ensure its effective implementation.
